A guide on Sutra recitation

Meditate for 3 minutes ,regulate your breathing, focus on your mind

Eye focus on the sutra, finger points on the sutra, recite the sutra, listen to the sutra, mind concentration, breath naturally and unhurriedly.

Sutra begins in your heart, clearly and peacefully

Sutra passes your eyes, with clarity

Sutra comes out from your mouth , clear words and sound

Sutra enter your ears , clearly

Sutra enter your conscience, and clearly heard.

2020/10/02 (三) 三寶心法,超生了死之3——守玄之人,最初乃以收萬念皈一念,收一念而率性,至終則應無所住而生其心,如此一真觀法成矣。若是固執一點之上,死守不放,或借此輕視其它天心所傳引導法門,此則又離真門玄關遠矣。切慎!切慎!守玄之真義,是率性也。修子每日抱合同叩首禮佛,若能心持赤誠,天真顯露,五百叩、一千叩或二千叩、三千叩之時,皆能萬緣放下,雜念不興,全神貫注於叩首。如此功夫若能不斷,不但燒香叩首之時能心無念,即是日常生活之中,亦能清淨無妄,久久功純,叩而無叩,常清常靜,不再受妄念牽纏,自然不被生死輪迴所苦。

Practicing to meditate using the Xuanguan is to remove all splintering thoughts into one.

Focusing our thoughts will lead to our true nature, and in the end, there will be nothing external that will interfere with our heart; meaning we have achieved the cultivation of our heart.

However, if one is overly attached to the details o the method, or uses this method as a form of superiority over other cultivation methods, then that is far from the truth of Xuanguan. Be careful! The purpose of meditation through Xuanguan is to find back our true nature.

Disciples who make daily worship to Buddha; if can be sincere, innocence is revealed; five hundred kowtows, one thousand or two thousand, three thousand, all things can be let go, undistracted, and absorbed in the kowtow.

If such a degree of practice can continue, not only burn incense, kowtow can be mindless,

That is, in daily life, can also be clean and free for a long period of time. To kowtow without having additional thoughts but with peace and clarity, no longer affected by delusions. As such we will naturally not have to suffer from the whims of life and death.

How can grinding brick become a mirror, how sitting meditation become a Buddha?

馬祖道一,年少時到南嶽衡山出家, 拜了懷讓禪師為師。
Ma Zu Tao yi, when he was young, he went to Nan Yue Heng Mountain to become a monk. He was apprenticed to Huai Rang Zen Master.

One day, Huai Rang Zen master saw Tao yi for a whole day sitting in the temple to meditate, so he seized the opportunity to teach Tao yi.

問道一:「你整天在這裡坐禪, 究竟為何?」道一說道:「我想成佛。」
He asked Tao yi : "You sit here all day long, what for?" Tao yi said, "I want to become a Buddha."

懷讓禪師不語,只是拿起了一塊磚, 在道一附近的石頭上磨了起來。
Huai Rang Zen master kept silent but just picked up a brick. He started to grind the brick on the stone near Tao yi.

Tao yi could not concentrate because of the noise, so he asked: " Master, why do you grind the brick?" Huai Rang Zen Master said, "I am grinding brick to make a mirror."

道一不解:「磨磚怎可能成鏡?」懷讓禪師呵呵道:「倘若磨磚不能成鏡子, 那坐禪又怎成佛呢?」
Tao Yi was puzzled: "How can grinding brick become a mirror?" Huai Rang said, "If the brick cannot be made into a mirror, then how can sitting meditation become a Buddha?"


If grinding brick cannot become a mirror, then how can sitting meditation become a Buddha? What we think and feel is often erratic and changeable

當我們放下控制心靈的慾念,心中的矛盾和煩惱才能自然化解, 心境也就當下釋然了。
When we let the desire which controls the mind goes, the contradictions and troubles in the mind can be resolved naturally. The state of mind is relieved at the moment.

二、修行人的心境,如鳥飛過白雲, 魚躍出水面,讓心靈安詳自在。
2. The mental state of the cultivator is like a bird flying over a white cloud, the fish jumping out of the water, letting the soul feel at ease.

心若改變 , 態度就會改變
Changing the mind , the attitude will be altered

態度 改變 , 習慣 就會改變
Changing the attitude , the habits will be altered

習慣改變 , 人生就會改變
Changing habits , the life will be altered
